Congratulations to Felix Gaedtke and Gayatri Parameswaran, whose VR experience KUSUNDA has won the Grand Jury Award at the Tribeca 2021 festival!

KUSUNDA is a VR experience by NowHere Media

ELAR is happy to have collaborated with Felix Gaedtke and Gayatri Parameswaran from NowHere Media on the KUSUNDA project.

In the documentary VR experience KUSUNDA, the audience meets Hima as she reminds her grandfather, Kusunda shaman Lil Bahadur, of his forgotten mother tongue. Hima wants to revive the Kusunda language. The audience navigates through the narrative by speaking words in Kusunda, and is invited to join the fight for its revitalisation. KUSUNDA is a tribute to Gyani Maiya Sen, who was the last fluent speaker of Kusunda.

NowHere Media is an award-winning studio in Berlin crafting virtual and augmented experiences that enable audiences to view contemporary issues through a critical lens.
